I really enjoyed the video, but stopped buying books about 15 years ago, because I won’t have time left to read all those I have.
Thanks for starting off our conversation here with some humour. . . and a reality check, Derrick! π
Very nice. It is beautiful to see your humour and joyous cooperation!
Thank you for checking in from Ottawa, Arlene! π
Loved it, Marian! So well done! Congratulations!
Thanks for the kind words, L. Marie! π
Good morning, Marian! I love your trailer! Your book is on my TBR pile. π
Derrick beat me to the first responder position, but it’s good to see him here.
No pressure, Merril. You know you’re always welcome whenever you arrive! π
π
Great job Cliff, very clever and entertaining. You two are the ‘power couple’ of the art world.
May we quote you on this, Carolyn? Thanks for the glowing review here! π
Wow, Marian! What a wonderful trailer that captures all the patterns, themes, and emotions of the book. Well done, Cliff! Itβs so nice to have an artistic husband! Wishing you a world of success with the sale of My Checkered Life!
Thank you Liesbet. I tried to put just a few sample images from My Checkered Life together for a “simple” book trailer. π My quick sketches of ideas for that simple project stretched way beyond in time, but I’m glad Marian can finally celebrate the book trailer with author friends and new readers!
Simple project? Right! I can imagine it all took much longer than planned. And got more complicated as it evolved, with twists and turnsβ¦ π
Congratulations! What an inviting way to engage us and encourage us to enter your amazing story!! Canβt wait to dive in!
Thanks so much, Jenn! π
Congratulation’s Marian what a clever husband you have a delightful video promoting your memoir π
That’s true, Carol. And thanks for giving Cliff a well-deserved nod here! π
Your book trailer is wonderful! Cliff is a brilliant artist, and Marian is a gifted wordsmith. Truly, the perfect complimentary match. <3
I can relate to the first comment here, I have 795 ebooks, according to my Kindle reader, and 538 of those books are unread. My beloved husband, who only reads 'real' books, has stacks of bookcases and boxes filled with books, in nearly every room in our house. Like you and Cliff, my hubby and I are the perfect complimentary match. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, I was born in northern California, and we met in Albuquerque, New Mexico! π
I love how you and your husband are both pictured here. Your caption could read, “He from the East, and me from the West, and we meet somewhere in between.” Wonderful! Thank you, Linda Lee!
Delightful! I smiled all the way through it. Even the wind and rain and dark clouds did not scare me. The bonds of love cannot be broken when they are entwined in faith, as yours are.
You and Stuart have endured the winds and rain of adversity and have emerged triumphant, the bonds of love and faith sustaining you as well. Thank you, Shirley. π
What a big project and accomplishment. And you did it together! Congratulations on all stages of this journey.
The nuts and bolts of constructing the trailer were Cliff’s, but we both discussed the story-board together. As always, there were some creative differences, Elaine. Ha!
π
The trailer is a delight. I’m totally charmed. Congrats on your book and your marriage!
Ally Bean, HUGE thanks! π
Marian β Your trailer absolutely captures the book. Spot on, I love it!
And you are IN it too, Laurie! Thanks for your fine contribution. ;-D
That turned out very well. Well done!
Thanks, Darlene! π
Congratulations, Marian. May you continue to grow (and share) from your checkerboard experiences.
I like your image of “checkerboard,” which means negotiating so we both win. Thanks for checking in with a comment, Steve. ;-D
Wow! That’s so cool. π The production is excellent, Marian. It’s a very clever marketing idea.
Thanks, Melanie. In this case, “clever” is homegrown. I’m glad you like it! π
WOW!! This is a very impressive book trailer!!!
Thank you, Liz. I value your opinion. π
You’re welcome, Marian. π
Oh wow! Congratulations Marian and Cliff; I will no doubt get this through Barnes & Noble; can’t wait!!! What a beautiful cover too!
Dear Cactus Flower, Barnes & Noble offers the e-book, available at a slight discount. I’m glad you liked the cover and the book trailer. Thank you! π
Wow, a lot of work went into that trailer! Who wouldnβt want to pick up and begin reading! Congratulations!
Thank you, Elfrieda, for acknowledging all the hard work involved. Cliff is a work-horse, no doubt about it. You are in my thoughts and prayers again today. π
This is one of the best trailers I have ever seen. Congratulations on a first rate production!
That is high praise! Thank you, Pete. π
So entertaining! Life has been very eventful for you with Cliff by your side. Love you both, my friendsβ€οΈ
Bonnie, you and Andy have had a front-row seat observing the past 30 years or so of our journey. Thanks for commenting here! π
After commenting on Wednesday to Liesbet I hadn’t read some of the other comments. Thank you also: Carolyn, Carol, Linda, Shirley, Ally, Laurie, Melanie, Liz, CactusFlower, Elfrieda and Pete for your positive comments. Hey Pete, maybe you can enter my book trailer for a prize somewhere π
A wonderful introduction and trailer to your book, Marian!!! What an adventure!!!
Yes, Rebecca, and the adventure continues. Thanks for stopping by! π
Marian, this video is fantastic. The drawings are brilliant and the piece about darker days is really poignant. Hats off to you and Cliff.
As artist/author you have a sharp eye. Thank you, Robbie! π
Thank you Rebecca.
Robbie, after you read My Checkered Life, I love to see some scene from the book where your little dough creations emerge from your cooking bowl!
Marian, what a fabulous trailer! I loved seeing all those photos in it. Great idea. Wishing you tons of book sales. <3
Thanks for the good wishes about sales, Debby. I’m glad you enjoyed the trailer; the visuals were created from illustrations in the book. π
Helo Marian,
I came to your blog Wednesday after you posted your blog post and left a comment as well as sent out a tweet about your Book trailer. I see that the post is not here. I had a hard time getting it to accept my post. I rewrote it twice and said I would check again today. Anyway, I hope you get this one. Or maybe my post is in your spam or junk mail on your blog.
Anyway, you have a very lovely book trailer. I wanted to square dance to the music.
Great job. If the other comment is in your spam please delete this comment.
Have a lovely Sunday evening.
Shalom shalom
First of all, I don’t like one bit how WordPress is treating my friend–you! Yes, I found 2 other comments from you in the Spam folder and marked then “Not Spam,” so WP would know you are definitely legitimate. Your last comment did come through! Thanks for persisting in spite of the annoyance.
That’s high praise, Pat, wanting to square dance to the music. Huge thanks! π
ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! Three cheers to Cliff for the clever video, lights and darks and merging as One Wonderful Couple. As you know, I LOVED your book. Congrats on so many levels. <3
Thank you, Pam! You know how it is, authors’ thoughts and feelings ebb and flow when they send their book babies out to the public. Your rave review comes at the perfect time. Huge hugs, dear friend! π
This is great, Marian! Congratulations – I loved the pictures π
Thanks for the big nod here–and on my YouTube channel, Barbara!
You’re welcome – you do a great job here and over there!
