Coming next, Meeting Readers: The Joy of a Book Tour
Good morning, Marian! I love the photos. You look so sweet in the top one, and what a great author pic in the second. Is it the same field?
The little girl is in our family field in Bainbridge (or Rheems). The big girl posed in a field near Lititz, PA. Same girl (?), same season, different field. Thanks, Merril!
This sounds like my favorite kind of book to read. Thanks for doing a giveaway!
I’d love for you to read it, Louise. Thanks for commenting here!
Ever since I began reading your blog, I knew this would culminate in a good read. Your experiences are authentic, and impressionable. They’ve formed you into a beautiful person of grace and understanding, and others relate through your beautiful writing style. God Bless! What a wonderful legacy to your family.
Oh, Carol, this is quite an endorsement. Thank you! As I wrote, I kept this framed phrase near my desk: Soli Deo Gloria. Whatever I lacked in stamina and skill, the LORD has provided.
Im sooo looking forward to reading this!
I believe you are Chris, the Quilter, and other talents. I hope you get to read my book soon. Thanks for commenting here!
how exciting that it is out… would love to win a copy
Mary, how nice to see you here. I think of your often since we met in Chincoteague. I hope you are doing well.
I love these photos, Marian!
Thanks for stopping by and reading in your busy season, now with your own book launch. And thanks, again, for the lovely review, Jill!
Love the cornfield photos! And I’m eager to read your book.
As a farm girl yourself, you can relate to many scenes in my book. I hope you get to read it very soon. Thanks for commenting, Sharon. And best wishes with your own book launch. 🙂
Congratulations Marian. This is certainly an exciting, busy time for you. Any chance you’ll stop by the Mennonite historical society (not sure if that’s the actual name, but it is their function)? I spent a week of afternoons there many moons ago doing research.
Janet, I’ve visited there too but not necessarily for research: I wanted to scope out the bookstore. During my tour, the daughter of the girl I traveled with on My Trip West, Jonel Herr (retail sales manager), was instrumental in arranging a book signing at Landis Homes, sponsored by the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society. The cliche, “small world” fits here, so I’ll use it.
Three of my books will rest on the shelves of LMHS book store – until somebody decides to buy one! 🙂
Fun photos! Don’t enter me in the mix as I already own a copy. I finished reading it last night and thoroughly enjoyed your descriptive writing. I think you collected another A! Sometime I’ll tell you of all the ways I identified with your experiences.
I’ll take the A, Ruth! I also enjoyed your card and personal note from your husband. Thanks for coming to the Landis Homes book signing, and for commenting here. 🙂
Yay! Love the photos! I have the book, so please don’t enter me in the drawing. And the winner of the book on my blog has received it as well. 😀
You are great at making connections with me here every week and persisting with your own blog with giveaways. I admire your generous heart, L. Marie. Thanks!
Pick me! Pick me! Pick me, random (dot) org! Pretty please 😁😃
Your book is at the top of my wishlist, Marian. 💘💘
Thank you, Linda Lee, for such a hearty endorsement. I hope you get to read my book very soon! 🙂
I’ve been thinking about you and hoping your book tour is going well. Nice of you to check in here. [No need to enter me in the contest, btw. A copy is on its way.]
I hope my memoir has arrived in your mailbox, Ally Bean, she of the witty WordPress blog. Thanks for commenting even though you don’t want a book. That’s your style! 🙂
I have been following your blog for well over a year and would love to have a copy of your new book. I grew up in the Brethren In Christ denomination so I can identify with many of your experiences.
Thank you for stopping by to comment, Elaine. I hope you can identify with many of my stories as (possibly) a plain girl yourself at one time. Here’s to happy reading! 🙂
Marian, I absolutely love the two pictures! I hate that I missed your book launch party and haven’t had a chance to see you to tell you how amazing you are and excited for you book. Congratulations! Julie Covell
After the book tour, I’ll soon be returning to 2-year-olds. They’ll probably all be talking and potty-trained already. Ha! Thanks for commenting here, Julie!
Great photos. Would love to win a copy of your book. XO
Thanks for commenting here, Darlene. I know you are very busy with your own book launch. Great, good wishes for continued success.
Yes, I hope you get to read a copy of Mennonite Daughter soon!
Love the shyness in the first picture contrasted by the self confidence in the second! Would love to read your book, Marian
Thanks for noticing the different postures in the two photos, Elfrieda. I believe you’ll be able to relate to many scenes in my book.

I hope to read your book soon. I’m wondering if/how much my experiences mirror yours.
Apparently, you have a Mennonite background as well, Sarah. Yes, I hope you get to read my book soon and compare experiences.
Good morning Marian. This is my first time reading and commenting on your blog as I didn’t realize you had a blog. You always leave such encouraging comments on Lucinda’s blog. Anyway, I love the pictures and Congratulations on your new book! Have a blessed day!

You’re so clever, Marian! Love your promotion campaign 🙂
Thanks, Barbara! 😀
Wonderful photos, Marian. Can’t wait to read your book! It’s on order…………
Jack, I met several (6, I believe) EAHS classmates on my PA tour. Thanks for ordering my book. I hope you let me know your thoughts! 🙂
I’m sure the field is happy to see you again. The corn is definitely all ears….
Very clever, Dolores!
Love these photos, Marian! No need to include me in giveaway. Already have a copy.
You wrote a fabulous review, Sherrey. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your return to better health is evident all over the internet as you write to encourage others. 🙂
I am loving your memoirs and last night I read about you working in the tomato fields. I really felt for you. What a tough little girl you were! Big hug. ❤❤❤
You have the gift of empathy, Fatima. I’m glad you can relate to scenes in my memoir. Thanks! 🙂
We both had a fairly poor childhood. I know you were disappointed with your beat-up second-hand bike, but I never even got one myself. In a way, it makes you appreciate more the value of things and it gives you a great sense of achievement when you save up and buy things for yourself. I’m still reading.
I consider my childhood mostly happy although I had such an adversarial relationship with my dad. There were plenty of others to love me.
Thanks for commenting here and reading my book, Fatima! 🙂
Looking forward to reading this book! We are spending time developing our genealogy and family accounts with a few common threads flowing in each family.
Congratulations for taking on the task of researching family genealogy. It’s worth the effort. And thanks for commenting here too, Jeanette! 🙂
Marian — Look at you then and now. Beautiful!
I would be delighted to read your book!
Karen, and I’d be delighted for you to read it! 🙂
Great to hear from you, Laurie, now immersed in another genre, a thriller – brilliant!
I hope sometime you share a memoir with your wide readership. I’d be the first in line. 🙂
Love the photos! Good luck to some lucky winner. I highly recommend! 🙂
I’ve shared your huge promo of me this week on Facebook and Twitter. So happy to have you in my corner, Debby! 🙂
You are most welcome. 🙂
I’ve heard this story is amazing! We lived in Montana years ago. There was an active Mennonite colony and a Hutterite colony nearby. I find the culture fascinating. Congratulations, Marian. ❤️
My Mennonite experience was localized in Pennsylvania. This week I heard there are Mennonites in Miami, Florida. Now you tell me about Montana Mennonites. I wonder if they are farmers, at which they are expert.
Thanks for commenting here, Colleen. I see you often on social media and know you have interest in the paranormal – and perhaps poetry too! 🙂
Most definitely in both areas Mariam. @DebbyGies has ranted and rave about how lovely this book is. ❤️
Congratulations on your first book, Marian…A lovely idea to give a copy away… I loved the review on Debby post 🙂 xx
Great to see you here, Carol. Thanks for the congratulations and good wishes – and for reading Debby’s post. Happy cooking, baking – and of course, writing all about it! 🙂
Thank you,Marian…:) xx Have a great weekend 🙂
Oh, I missed the contest! But I do love love those two photos.
I think there may be more contests, perhaps in other writers’ blog posts. Thanks for commenting anyway, Fiona!
I have my copy, but I love the photos–except being a lover of bugs, I notice that the earlier pre-Roundup photo has weeds that support butterflies and birds where as the recent corn is weed-free is most likely treated with Roundup. I miss the old fields with milkweed and wildflowers at the edges. You, on the other hand, are a beautiful flower in both images.
I HATE Round-up! There have been lawsuits over the human effects of using this toxic chemical, but I think the outfit is still in business. I hadn’t noticed that difference. Thank you, Elaine!
I’m excited to discover your book – and your blog – from Melodie’s Finding Harmony blog.
Your book sounds wonderful! Now to go catch up on some of your blog posts that I missed.
Thank you, Trisha. You care kind to read and comment here. I notice that you have subscribed to my blog, so I hope we will continue to enjoy a conversation here. Thank you!
What a treat to hear from you, Marian! I also would enjoy reading your book! I don’t think I have seen you since college days. Such good memories of finding that we were 3rd cousins! I live in VA near Harrisonburg.
Emma, your name was on my “calendar” of contacts times this summer. It great to see you here now. I’m glad we have this connection – through family, of course, and now on my blog. My blog post today, October 16, offers a link for a giveaway. Thanks, for reading and commenting, Emma! 🙂
